Apple Crisp from Canned Apple Pie Filling

FILLING

  • 2 – 20 ounce cans apple pie filling

  • 1 packet True Lemon or 1 tablespoons pre-sweetened lemonade powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

TOPPING

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/3 cup butter or alternative of your choice

Lightly oil a 9-inch square baking pan. Open the apple pie filling and empty both cans into the baking pan. Stir in the lemon crystals and cinnamon.

Meanwhile, combine the topping ingredients in a small bowl. Mash them together until it's all crumbly. Scatter these crumbs over the apples. Bake at 400° for about 30 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly hot and the topping is lightly browned. Serve in small bowls with prepared whipped topping (Dream Whip) or a hearty drizzle of canned table cream that has been lightly sweetened with a few spoonfuls of sugar. Makes 6 hearty servings.

NOTE: Other flavors of canned pie filling may be used instead of Apple. Blueberry is especially good, but expensive too.

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.  Use hospitality one to another without grudging.  As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.--1 Peter 4:8-10
