Any type of bread will work for this recipe, but stale bread is easier to crumble. If you have homemade bread that didn't turn out as good as you'd like, or even leftover biscuits, just crumble them up and they'll work fine. Melt the margarine in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the crumbled bread. Sprinkle the garlic powder and salt over all. Sauté the bread crumbs until they start to brown. Be careful not to burn. When they are brown to your liking remove the pan from the heat and transfer the crumbs to a small bowl or dish. Place a spoon in the bowl. Pass at the table like Parmesan cheese and sprinkle over any pasta dish. It's cheaper than Vegan Parmesan and a super way to use up stale bread. Plus most kids love it. Makes 6 servings. Per Serving: 113 Calories; 8g Fat (64.8% calories from fat); 1g Protein; 9g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; trace Cholesterol; 201mg Sodium. Exchanges: 1/2 Grain(Starch); 1 1/2 Fat.
