The earliest version I've found of this old favorite is from a cookbook published in 1969, the same year I was born. Since then it's appeared in countless cookbooks under many aliases and with assorted variations. The method is simplicity itself: In a medium sized bowl combine the peanut butter, raisins, honey and powdered milk. Stir well to form a thick dough. Break off small chunks of the dough and roll each one into a small ball. Roll the balls in cocoa powder or shredded coconut or wheat germ or chopped nuts, or powdered sugar or a few in each for a variety. Place the coated balls on a plate and allow them to dry out until serving time. Store leftovers someplace cool. They are rich and filling and oh-so-good. Great recipe for kids to make on their own or with a little help from Mom or Dad. If you ever get a craving for something rich, gooey and sweet, this one can be completed down to licking the residue off of your fingers in 10 minutes flat. Makes about 15 servings.
