Candle on the Hill
Yummy patterns with many variations. The dresses come with
instructions for making maternity versions and nursing
options. Sizes range up to 2X, which appears to be a Walmart
22/24. Headcovering patterns are also available, including the cloth
snood pattern that is becoming quite popular among covered
ladies. Besides Krista's patterns you can also find a nice
selection from other ladies too, including some nice plus sized
options. Be sure to look at the aprons,
they are a MUST
SEE!
Elisabeth Lee Designs
Nursing patterns. Some are sized up to 24. There is a
great variety here to choose from. Not all of the
patterns are perfect for modest mothers, but most are. Long
history of reliable patterns and excellent service. I have used
several of these patterns myself and always been satisfied.
Homestead Specialties
Beautiful Jumper and Dress patterns for women and girls. A
couple of very nice casual Jacket patterns too. The girl
patterns come with matching patterns for 18" dolls.

easy to see from the pictures. Pretty headcovering and girls
patterns too. After looking over the sizing charts I see that
each pattern is sized a little differently. Be sure to examine
the measurement charts provided with the descriptions. In some
of the dresses I wear a size 18, and in others I would need a
20. (At Walmart I wear a 20 and in sewing patterns I wear a 22. )

Paisley Pincushion
Offering Dress, Jumper & Apron patterns for ladies and girls,
these are some of the prettiest I've seen. They remind me of
the old-timey patterns you can sometimes find at flea markets, or now
more often on ebay. Glorifying the gracefulness of a bygone
era, they offer a variety of sizes from a ladies small up to 2 X in
aprons. All of the jumpers and dresses go up to a 20 and a few up to
26. As a size 22 myself, I hope that as they continue they will
offer all of their patterns in a variety of sizes including
plus. The pictures are gorgeous, just looking a them makes your
mouth water and your sewing fingers itch. Well worth your time.

Christian General Store offering a very nice culotte pattern for only
$7 that actually looks like a skirt from the front and the back. It's
largest size is XL--20/22. You can also order custom made culottes
from what looks like the same pattern for a reasonable price. There
are other items too, besides clothing and the books look quite enticing.

Most of the patterns Krista has designed go up to a size 2X. In
addition there is special section of plus size items.
Fashion Patterns by Coni
Lots & Lots of well made patterns designed specifically for plus
size bodies. Patterns go up to 6X. The variety of
flattering dresses is the perfect antidote to all of the
cookie-cutter looks put out by major pattern companies these
days. My favorite is her princess
seamed jumper.
My Sister's Patterns
I love these patterns. Patterns are available in sizes up to
3X. They are carefully designed to fit real woman with lumpy
bumpy bodies that have given birth to children and other lifetime
projects. Many of the dresses are empire waisted, which is
great for beautiful, short waisted, round, mother-type-bodies like mine.

Petite Plus Patterns
Several versatile pieces which can be combined in any number of
ways. These patterns are gears specifically for the Petite Plus
size figure.
Sew Grand Patterns
Designed for plus size women by a plus size woman. There is a
nice jumper with princess seams and cleverly designed elasticized
upper back. The True Emotions Dress Collection has some
becoming dresses that are appropriate for modest Christian ladies.
In addition to these resources remember to check out the big 3
pattern companies. Butterick,
Simplicity &
even McCalls
have a jumper or dress or two that is adaptable to plus size
modesty. Vogue patterns
are on a different planet right now and when they come back to our
solar system they may be a resource worth considering.

Size Clothing Resources
The following clothing resources do not specialize in Modesty.
You will have to be selective in your choices. I have only
included places that allow on-line ordering, and those which carry
extended sizes at (relatively) reasonable prices. Most of the
clothing costs more than it would at your local Discount Store, but
there are specialty items available which are difficult to find
elsewhere. All of these resources carry several dresses and
jumpers that are perfect for dressing modestly.
