Molasses Frosting

  • 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • Dash salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon blackstrap or regular molasses
  • 2 tablespoons milk—soy, rice, dairy etc.

  1. Measure all of the ingredinets into a medium sized bowl.

  2. Stir well, until the frosting is smooth.

  3. Spread it thinly over a cooled cake.

Notes.
The molasses gives this frosting a delicious caramel flavor, but without the difficulty of carmelizing sugar.  This frosting is a little bit gooey, so don't expect it to make pretty swirls or puffs.  The flavor is magnificent though.  Great for spicy cakes flavored with pumpkin or carrot or cinnamon.

Makes enough to frost a 9 by 13-inch cake, which is cut into 24 pieces.

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.  Use hospitality one to another without grudging.  As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.--1 Peter 4:8-10
